Rental Conditions

1. Comprehensive Insurance Coverage

At TRAVELHUB, your peace of mind is our priority. Our Comprehensive Insurance Coverage—including a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)—provides robust protection beyond just accidents. When you book directly through our website, you receive full insurance coverage without the need for additional policies.

Our rentals include:

  • Accident Coverage: Protection even if you’re at fault, provided you complete an on-site Agreed Statement of Facts (Accident Form)
  • Theft Protection: Coverage for theft incidents (excluding personal belongings).
  • Fire, Natural Disasters, and Vandalism: Protection that covers fire damage, natural disasters (such as flash floods typically occurring from January through April), and vandalism.
  • Additional Damage: Coverage for damage caused by fallen objects (e.g., hail, branches), cracked windscreens, and major mechanical breakdowns.

Not Covered:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
  • Reckless, illegal, or off-road driving.
  • Racing or any unauthorized use.
  • Driving without a valid driving license.
  • Personal items left in the car
  • Failing to inform our office about the accident within 24 hours of the incident.

** If any of the above conditions are breached, the renter will be fully responsible for all repair costs of all vehicles involved in the accident.


2. Insurance Excess/Deductible – No Deposit

At TRAVELHUB, we do not hold an excess deposit (deductible) on your credit card when you reserve. Like all CDW policies, you are only responsible for paying an insurance excess if you are found at fault in an accident.

The excess insurance amount is displayed on the vehicle’s page, in your rental quotation and rental agreement, which you will sign upon vehicle delivery.

In case of an accident, the insurance excess must be paid within 48 hours. If not at fault (confirmed by police or insurance report), the excess will be refunded. Police or insurance reports may take up to 30 days to be issued, and refunds take 7 to 14 days to process by the bank.


3. Refundable Minor-Damage & Fines Security Deposit (MDFD)

A refundable Minor-Damage & Fines Security Deposit is required with every rental:

  1. Rs6,000 for compact cars & sedans, Rs8,000 for Compact SUVs & up to Rs15,000 for SUVs & luxury/sports cars.
  2. Covers traffic fines, if any (such as speed cameras & unauthorized parking), and minor damages, such as vehicle body scratches.
  3. MDFD is fully refunded if no fines/damages occur (refunded within 14-21 days after the vehicle is returned)
  4. MDFD must be paid online before delivery to facilitate future refunds for tourists; only local customers may pay MDFD in cash.
  5. MDFD payment link is included in the booking confirmation email.

4. Delivery Locations

  1. Airport: Meet our agent at the arrival hall (near Paul Coffee Shop). Present your original driving license and passport/ID.
  2. Hotels: Delivery to your hotel reception. Provide your original driving license and passport/ID.
  3. Outstanding balances must be settled before key handover.

5. Car Rental Requirements

  1. A valid local or international driving license is required.
  2. Driver age limit: 21-75 years.
  3. A young driver fee of Rs300 per day may apply for young drivers (18 to 20 yrs)
  4. Car models are examples only; similar or upgraded alternatives may be provided.
  5. Customers should check the vehicle thoroughly and take photos before delivery.
  6. Meet only the official TRAVELHUB staff (wearing a uniform and possessing your booking voucher).

6. Car Return Guidelines

  1. Return to the airport departure area (the agent will contact you).
  2. Early returns: No refunds are available for unused days.
  3. Late returns: Additional charges apply after a 3-hour window.
  4. Fuel policy: Please return the car with the same fuel level. Otherwise, we may charge a Rs400 fee per missing fuel bar
  5. Lost items: If found in the car, shipping costs will be at your expense.

7. Booking Amendments

  1. Extensions require written approval via email ([email protected]) at least 48 hours before the rental ends.
  2. If your reserved car is unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, we will provide a similar or upgraded vehicle at no extra cost.
  3. An immediate full refund will be processed if no alternative vehicle is available. You will be notified well in advance of any unexpected situations.

8. Pricing & Payment Terms

  1. Rates are based on a 24-hour rental period (daily price)
  2. Minimum rental: 4 days.
  3. Pay 50% of your rental fees upon reservation. Pay the remaining balance upon delivery (pay online with your credit card or cash in Mauritian rupees or euros)
  4. You can also pay 100% online and upfront upon booking confirmation.
  5. Your booking reservation voucher will contain the payment links for the rental fees and the MDFD separately.
  6. 50% of the rental fees will be required to secure your booking. MDFD can be paid just before delivery.

9. In Case of an Accident

  1. Call medical services (114) or police (999) for injuries.
  2. Take photos/videos of the accident scene.
  3. Inform TRAVELHUB office immediately to receive proper guidance. (Hotline numbers on your rental agreement)
  4. A company representative may arrive at the scene if needed.
  5. Complete the Accident Form (found in the car’s glove box) and exchange vehicle insurance and license details with the other driver/s.
  6. Both parties need to sign the form, and you must submit this document to our company.
  7. The form available in the vehicle’s glove box is a carbonless duplicate form that produces two copies when filled out. Only one party should complete the form at the accident scene, with one copy kept by each party. Call us if you need assistance.
  8. Always stay calm & do not admit fault or sign any other documents releasing someone’s liability. Just fill out the accident statement of facts form, and the insurance will decide which party is at fault. Call our hotline numbers if you need assistance.
  9. Please inform us if the vehicle is immobilized due to severe damage. We will arrange to tow the vehicle and send another car with a driver to transport you safely to your hotel or residence.
  10. Email a copy of the accident form to [email protected] within 24 hrs of the accident.

10. Maintenance Alerts

  1. Renters should monitor oil levels, tyre pressure, and water levels.
  2. For long-term rentals, oil changes are required every 5,000–10,000 km.
  3. We will provide a temporary replacement vehicle of a similar category if maintenance is needed.

11. Mechanical Issues

  1. Any issues should be reported immediately to avoid further mechanical damage.
  2. Failure to report issues promptly may void MDFD refund eligibility.

12. Assistance fee

A. Tyre replacement

  • Damaged tyres: if a tyre is punctured, damaged, or requires replacement, we will take care of the cost of repairing or replacing it. However, a transport fee will be charged at 35 euros if we need to reach you to where you are.

B. Key replacement

  • You may be required to pay a fee for the replacement key if you lose it (MDFD applies). Additionally, a transportation fee of 35 euros will apply if we need to deliver the key to your hotel or any other location. However, the transportation fee will be waived if you can collect the key from our office in Quatre Bornes.

C. Battery replacement

  • Discharged battery: if your car battery is discharged from negligence and only needs to be recharged instead of replaced, you’ll have to pay a transport fee of 35 euros in case we need to do so at your hotel. However, you will not be charged for this transportation fee if you can come to our office.

13. Cancellation/Refund Policy

  1. Standard Cancellations: To receive a full refund (100%), please email your cancellation request to [email protected] at least 72 hours (3 days) before the scheduled delivery.
  2. Unforeseen Events: Cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., pandemics) are eligible for a full refund, less a €15 service fee.
  3. Late Cancellations: For cancellations made less than 72 hours before delivery, we will retain 50% of the rental fees plus a €15 service fee. All other pre-paid charges will be refunded.
  4. Refund Processing: Please allow 7 to 14 days for our bank to process the refund.
  5. MDFD refund: The MDFD is 100% refundable, even in cases of late cancellation.
